As you continue completing the Resume Outline, the Skill Summary Section is the next section to work on.

This Section at the top of your resume is very important because it gets the employer's initial glance. If done properly your job skills list will grab the employer's attention and draw attention down the page to the details of your experience and qualifications.

This is your chance to WOW the employer.

The Skill Summary is made up of bulleted, succinct phrases that describe your skills and abilites. You will tweek your job skills list every time you apply for a particular job to custom fit that employer. Compare the skills on your resume with what the employer is looking for.


Answer the following questions:

1) What did the employer list as important? Make sure all of the skills important to the employer that you possess are included in your personal job skills list summary.

2) What particular experience do I have that the employer is looking for?

3) How can I describe my skills in a professional manner? If you need help with how to describe your skills, you can use Onet Online to compile a list of skills common to the job you are seeking.

Now that you have completed answering the Section 2 questions, use your answers to create your Resume Skill Summary.
