Setting goals and working to accomplish them can be a real "rut breaker." Working on meaningful goals can be especially helpful this time of year when those of us in the Northeast USA still have a few months of cold and ice ahead!

Have you picked a few goals for the New Year and started working on them?

One of the marks of a successful goal setter is that they plan for success.

In other words, they not only think about what they want to accomplish, but they write their goals down and then plan time each week to work on them.

One way to do this is to pick a goal to accomplish by the end of the year. Then, break your goal into baby goals you will accomplish in months, weeks, and then days. Set aside time each day to work on your goal, even if you start with only 10 minutes a day to plan what the goals will be! At the start of next year you will be glad you did!

Sincerely,

Production, Planning, and Expediting Clerks

Production Planners coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Their duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of production, planning, and expediting clerks is projected to show little or no growth (2%) over the 2008-2018 projection period. As greater emphasis is placed on the timely delivery of goods and services throughout the economy, there will be increasing need for production, planning, and expediting clerks at all levels of the supply chain. In 2008 the median wage for a Personal Care Aide was $19.46 / hour.

Many production, planning, and expediting jobs are at the entry level and do not require more than a high school diploma. These clerks usually learn the job by doing routine tasks under close supervision. Computer skills are very important.

Not Getting Interviews?

There is much buzz about the sagging economy right now, but you should be getting interviews for the job openings you are applying for. If you are not getting calls from the employer to interview, it is probably the way you are filling out your application.

Start Your New Year with a Resume Makeover
As you are working on fulfilling your New Year's goals, consider a remake of your resume. A well done resume will not only impress the employer, but will give you more confidence as you continue your job search.

Resume Styles
There are a few different types of resumes, but one that I have found to be most effective with employers is the Targeted Resume. A targeted resume uses a clean, attractive layout to "target" the skills, abilities, and characteristics you posess that the employer seeks. This targeted focus makes it easy for an employer to see in one quick glance that you meet or exceed all the job requirements.
