Considering a New Career Field? Check out this "In Demand" Job
Every week I feature information on a different In Demand Job, which are those occupations that are
projected to have long-term growth, are economically important, or are being transformed by technology and
innovation. Most jobs featured here have a projected growth that is average or faster than the average job,
which means that there should good demand for workers in that occupation.
Baristas
Baristas prepare or serve specialty coffee or other beverages. They also serve food such as baked goods or
sandwiches to patrons.
Average employment growth is expected, and job opportunities should be excellent for food and beverage
serving and related workers as turnover is generally very high among these workers, but job competition
is often keen for jobs at upscale restaurants.
The median wage for a Barista in 2008 was $8.42 an hour. The projected growth for this occupation is
average (7 - 13 %).

Benefits for Part time Employees
If you have been out of work for sometime, or are looking for a career change, you might have a concern
about how to handle your need for medical benefits. One idea is to find a part time position with a company

And of course, all partners get a pound of coffee each week. (YUM!)
