How I Ended up Using Free Job Search Engines Every Day... and made a Website about it!
I use Free Job Search Engines every day, just like you.
I thought you might want to know a little about the Owner/Operator of this site. I live in the Northeastern
USA in what is predominately a tourist and farming area.
Finding a job here has always been a challenge, but during my 14 year career in Job Placement Services, I
have learned what works and what doesn't. I always tell the people that I work with, if you can find a job here,
you can find a job anywhere!
This picture is looking out my window of my home to the ice and snow covering our pond and the valley below us.
It is actually very beautiful here in the country when I don't have to trudge around in it!
This site was born out of my hands-on experience helping people be effective in finding work. I use the word,
"effective", because there are certainly steps you can take to make yourself more effective and productive in
the job search and as you utilize the free job search engines.
In this site, I've linked to the free job search engines that I use every day. I also have included lots of
great tips on resume writing for career change or any job goal you may have. I know from personal experience
that conducting a good job search can be tough, all consuming work and my goal is to give you all the tools
you need to be supported and successful!
Where I Started
I started my professional career at the age of 30 when I went to work at a large corporation in the
telecommunications field. After 7 ½ years in sales and program management, the company was downsizing
40,000 people and I took an exit package to pursue a different career path. I left with money in my pocket
and one year's medical coverage, which gave me time to explore a bit what my options were.
After leaving the corporation, I was quite excited to be embarking on a new career path, but also felt quite
isolated. It is my hope that if you currently changing careers, you will find this a site of encouragement and
a place where you can connect with others going through the same process that you are.
As I continued my exploration and job search, I became aware of a position in State Government working to help
people find employment. I applied for the position, interviewed with the regional manager and was offered the
position at the interview.
I continue to work at the State, where I lead Job Search Groups using curriculum that I developed. This
curriculum is used by the government to conduct similar Groups across the State.
Turning 50!
Turning 50 was quite an eye opener for me. The kids were grown and out of the house, and my husband and I were
planning to travel and do some things for us.
Retirement was looming in the horizon and I starting considering
that I would like to invest some time in building an online business featuring free job search
engines and other helpful and encouraging tips for job seekers.
I explored different website hosts and
decided on
SBI (Site Build It), which I really love because of the excellent teaching and support they offer.
When I am not working at my business or at the State, I enjoy taking walks, watching movies, traveling with
my husband, and attending our church where I lead a prayer team group and maintain/develop the church website.
I've also been developing my speaking skills and spoke recently at a conference on "How to Develop the
Prayer Team You've always Wanted".
What is your story? What are your challenges? What has worked for you?
I'd like to hear from you as you continue on your job search journey.
Happy Job Search!
Sincerely,
Marcy Travis
