The Best Cover Letter Format to Use
When considering the best cover letter format when you
build a resume,
make sure you include the sections listed below as a guideline.
What is a cover letter?
It should follow the basic format of a business letter. It should be no longer than one page,
and contain a title, date, salutation, and three short paragraphs.
Here are the sections to include when writing a cover letter for job application: Cover Letter TitleThe cover letter title is at the top of the page and should match the same type font, style, and paper you use for your resume. The title will include your contact information, such as your name, address, email, and telephone number at the top of the cover letter. The cover letter for your job application will match the font, style, and paper as your resume. This will be centered at the top of the page. The cover letter format is a business letter format, so next you will add the date, and then the Employer's Address. Your cover letter or letter of introduction should be no longer than one page and will contain three short paragraphs.
Introductory ParagraphThe first paragraph in the cover letter introduces you to the employer. It will convey to the employer which position you wish to be considered for and how you heard about the job opening. You should give a leading statement about why you are best qualified for the position.
Middle ParagraphThe middle paragraph in a cover letter should now go on to support the leading statement you made about yourself in the introductory paragraph. Highlight your accomplishments, skills and experiences that particularly qualify you for the position you are applying for.Your cover letter format content should include those things the employer stated they were looking for in the job opening.
Last ParagraphThe last paragraph of the cover letter should indicate your sincere interest in the position. Be sure to include that you will be contacting them via telephone within a week to set up an interview.Hit the return key 4-6 times to leave a blank space after your closing salutation, then type in your name. Use Microsoft Spell Checker to make sure you have an error free document. Finally, save all your changes one last time and print your Cover Letter on resume quality paper. Sign your name above your typed name. You are done! Now that you have completed your first cover letter, writing and revising the next one will be easier.
